SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS
This Program allows you to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person. If you want to apply in this program, you must demonstrate that you have relevant experience in athletics or cultural activities. Furthermore, be willing and able to make a reasonably significant contribution into these fields through your relevant experience and skills in Canada.
Eligibility
To immigrate as a self-employed person, you must:
- have at least two years of relevant experience. It must be during the period starting 5 years before the day you apply and ending on the day CIC make a decision on application.
- be willing and able to be self-employed in Canada
- meet the program’s selection criteria
- the applicant and the applicant’s immediate family members must pass the medical exams and security risk assessments
To prove that your experience is relevant, you must provide proof of:
- 2 one-year periods being self-employed in athletics or cultural activities, or
- 2 one-year periods participating at a world-class level in athletics or cultural activities, or
- a combination of a one-year period of each of the above activity
SELECTION CRITERIA
To qualify for this program, you must meet the definition of a self-employed person. To assess your eligibility, you will also be graded on five selection criteria and a point base system. The minimum passing score is 35 points out of 100 points, but it may change.

You will be selected based on the documents that you have provided with your application, your score under each of the selection criteria and meeting the definition of a self-employed person.You must also show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after you get to Canada.
