PGWP APPLICATIONS

Post Graduate Work Permit

You may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if you graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) and who offers Post Graduate Work Permit. Not all DLIs make you eligible for a post-graduation work permit. PGWP permits you to work full time for a certain period of time.
You can apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) as long as you meet the eligibility criteria. You have up to 180 days after you receive confirmation from your school that you’ve successfully completed your study program to apply for a work permit.

Length of the PGWPs

The length of PGWP depends on the program length. The program you attended and completed must have been full-time, and for at least eight months.

If your program was less than 8 months you aren’t eligible for a PGWP. If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years, your PGWP may be valid for up to the same length as your study program. If your program was 2 years or more a PGWP may be issued for 3 years.

If you completed more than one program, you may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program. For this, each of the programs you completed must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length.

Who’s eligible for PGWP?

To be eligible for a PGWP a student must have completed a program of study that lasted at least eight months and led to a degree, diploma or certificate and have studied full-time each academic session. Received written confirmation that the student has successfully completed the program.

Apply within 180 days of when your Letter of Completion first becomes available AND have a valid study permit at the time of application.
