Family Sponsorship

Family Class Sponsorship is a program which gives opportunity of reunification to the family members who are left behind at their home country.

A person is eligible as a Sponsor under Family Sponsorship Class who is at least 18 years old and a Permanent resident of Canada or Canadian Citizen. Sponsor need to show that they have enough money to meet the income requirements for sponsorship. The sponsored person should be admissible to enter the Canada. When people become permanent residents of Canada they can study, live and work in Canada.

Following Family members are eligible for sponsorship:

Spouses, Common-Law or Conjugal Partners:

Canadian Permanent Resident and Citizens who meet the certain requirements of sponsorship can sponsor a spouse or common law partner to come to Canada permanently. You also need to show that you have enough money to meet the income requirements.

Parents and Grandparents:

You can sponsor your parents and grandparents if you meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Living in Canada
  • You’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada.
  • You have enough money to support the family member(s) you want to sponsor

There are two types of programs available under parents and grandparent’s sponsorship:

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

It is a multiple entry visa valid for up to 10 years. Parents or Grandparents can live with their children or grandchildren for up to 2 years at a time. One of the main requirements of this program is a medical insurance. You must buy a medical insurance at least $100,000 Coverage from a Canadian Insurance Company and should be valid for 1 year from the date of entry to Canada.

Parent and Grandparent Family Class

Canadian Permanent Resident and Citizens who meet the certain requirements of sponsorship can sponsor their parents and grandparents to bring them to Canada permanently.

Dependent Children, including Adopted Children:

Canadian Permanent Resident and Citizens who meet the requirements of sponsorship can sponsor their dependent children or dependent adopted children to bring them to Canada permanently.
