Extension of Temporary Visa

If you want to stay longer in Canada as a visitor you must apply to extend the visitor visa before your current status expires. Check your temporary resident status to make sure you apply before the expiry date. When you apply for extension and your application is approved, you will get a visitor record which shows the duration of stay in Canada and includes an expiry date by which you must leave Canada.

To extend your stay you should apply at least 30 days before your status expires.

 

The Expiry date for your status is on:

The stamp in your passport but if you don’t have a stamp in your passport, the expiry date is 6 months from the day you entered Canada

Visitor record (if your stay has been already extended)
